New Changes and challanges

Big news this week from the UK as Gillian produced a beautiful baby boy after a grueling Labour, both are doing well and are home now.  Nathaniel was a little disappointed it was a boy as he has some plans to marry the baby girl (he has asked everyone else and they have all turned him down), but then he decided maybe he could play soccer with Stan instead!

Dad seems to be doing a little better and I even managed to speak to him briefly today, he sounded a little more energetic than he has been.

I have spent 4 days in Atlanta (thank you Simon) with some friends and had a wonderful time eating and drinking, with a 5 hr flight and a 3 hour time difference it has left me a tad tired so this is short as I contemplate work in the morning I feel i must close down my brain early tonight.

Oliver opens next week so we are all very excited to see all Simon's hard work............I cant believe we are heading into may soon and i still am being crap at my weight loss!!

Fatty Boom Boom

Why, Why, Why is it that I hate looking at my body in exercise clothes, it is so frustrating, I know I am not really fat but obviously need to choose my clothes to be more appropriate, Yuck is all I think when Look at myself,

I am not fat but the skinny people next to me in class put me to shame,

I guess I need to work harder and just get slimmer (or the other option of growing taller)

I am going to try and run 6 miles today, I guess maybe it will be possible if I dont leave it too long otherwise it gets too hot....

no rest for the slightly chubby

Finally

Finally my hard work at the gym is paying off, I managed to run 3 miles in a really excellent time this morning and what a motivator that is,

The weeks of struggling and getting no where are hopefully over.

The pain in my leg is also better with the classes I have been doing and the running club definitely helping.

I am running a 10K in 2 weeks so I really feel that maybe a possibility for me running a decent time, if not I will just do the 5K - but I am up for the challenge.

So if you have been struggling at something keep going your efforts will be rewarded soon!!

Standing at the bar

This is not an unusual thing for me (standing at the bar), thinking what drink I will partake in next, however this isn't what i have been doing.

The Bar Method was  a new exercise class i was encouraged to take, having been asked many times before I have decided that to enable me to have some precious "ME" time I have to start doing more than staying at home, so I signed up for this class and am excited to see how my body and strength will transform, i will definitely feed back to you my progress.  The first class was quite scary especially as my legs started to shake as it was so intense. I saw an immediate result in my recovering leg after just one class my movement was much improved where I had still been having pain

Along with the Bar Method, I am committing myself to doing running training every tuesday  - we run lots and lots of laps in intervals at the local high school.

I am definitely hoping I improve a little on my running I have been out of the loop with it so much the past year it is time for me to take steps and improve my well being again and with that i am a much happier and well rounded individual which in turn will benefit those around me.

A little hard work never killed anyone and I am definitely up for the challenge.... watch this space

The after effects

The after affects of us moving I think are just about beginning to hit "home".  Definitely we were initially caught up in trying to get on with our lives as quickly as possible we almost forgot to stop and appreciate us and have the reality we are here in California.

I play the role best by focusing and dealing with the problems in hand, order beds, answer emails, have meals on table and register for clubs.  I have also got a job and found schools and registered.

Simon has been very busy getting on with his job and occasional trips to LA and throwing himself back into the Theater group.

This weekend we just spent time as a family, no interruptions, no deadlines, just get up when we feel like it, buy a sandwich and sit in a park and then when we are done hang out by the pool.

That was the first time in 9 weeks that we "stopped, hugged each other" and accepted that we had moved on. I still feel I have not been able to put in the time with regards to communicating with our dear friends we left behind but I am trying and I hope to find the time soon.

We are happy we are here, we did not want Celebrations we are here, we did feel very sad that things did not work out for us in the UK and often feel we failed, but I would prefer to look at it as just another adventure.

I just hope here is where our hearts and minds can rest happy for many years to come, we are excited to have people to visit and even if we don't email or call enough we always have our family and friends in our thoughts.

We took a great leap coming back here and luckily we didn't land on a trampoline but on good steady ground,

Cheers to the next 9 weeks and more beside..............................

Coughs and Sneezes spread diseases

What a time of it I have had (really since I was here in October) I started to have terrible sinus pain, (which I thought was toothache) but it wasnt and eventually it subsided, and here since we arrived I have felt pretty rotten, mainly very tired and with a nagging headache and always coming down with flu but then not really getting totally ill.

I decided to try some allergy medications and low and behold,I feel like a changed person, my head is clear my tiredness has gone and so too has my headaches, sinus pain, sore throats and swollen glands.

I have never had Allergies before so this is a new thing, and wow, how quickly it affected me but I definately feel able to contribute in life again.  thank goodness

New Bed

Nathaniel finally got his new bed, a lot of thought and effort went into what you would think would be a simple task but many things were taken in to account and finally we got him a bunk bed we were all happy with,

So here (above) is the bottam bunk,

The remaining bunk still to be built and the trundle fits underneath so it will sleep 4 adults and a ton of kids if we have visitors

Happy Friday

Finally

I sit here in my nightie, writing this blog and wishing Simon would work out a way to put my newly designed blog on line, i must remind him I think he probably just forgot. Our stuff arrived Last wednesday and I finally managed to order Nathaniel his bunk bed and that should arrive over the next couple of weeks.

So how is life here - well a little more comfortable with our sofa's clothes and toys. There seems to have been a notch up with heat here too most days have been hitting 80 or more and the need for sunlotion has gone from being "needed occasionally" to carrying it all the time.

I have settled into working 2 days a week and Nathaniel still loves his pre school, which is a good thing as next week he is going ever day as I have to do "orientation" at work 8 - 4.30 every day - uuuggg,

Today I am off to William's sonoma (a cooking shop) for a cooking seminar about how to chop with knives, and once I stop typing this blog I will chuck on my tracksuit and go and get the paper so we can go and look at some "open houses" this afternoon - boring but necessary if we are going to buy a house at some point, it will let us see what is available for us.

A trip to Oakland Zoo was a great day, first time in ages that we have done anything like that so we enjoyed it.

Still hoping to come back to visit the UK in the summer, but cant book any tickets till I have some spare money to pay for the tickets, donations ate welcome:)

Oh well, off to get the paper and prepare for my knife seminar,

toodle oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I am into my
